Openings: 1 Location: Nairobi – Gigiri (UN Ave vicinity) Overview: A respected regional development NGO is recruiting a PR & Communications Officer to strengthen its public profile and storytelling across East Africa. Based in Gigiri near UN Avenue, this role focuses on managing reputation, shaping narratives, and communicating the organization’s impact on health and livelihoods to diverse audiences, including media, partners, and donors. You’ll serve as the voice behind the organization’s external visibility, crafting compelling press materials, guiding spokespeople through high-stakes interviews, and maintaining relationships with journalists and influencers across key markets. The position demands a thoughtful balance of empathy and precision, turning complex program data and human stories into clear, credible messaging. Beyond media outreach, you’ll be instrumental in managing issues and preparing for crises, ensuring timely, coordinated responses that protect trust and integrity. Monitoring coverage, measuring sentiment, and ensuring message consistency will form a core part of your daily rhythm. This is an ideal role for a communicator who thrives on purpose-driven storytelling, someone able to navigate sensitive narratives, shape public perception, and uphold the brand’s credibility within the global development ecosystem. Key Responsibilities: - Build and maintain journalist/influencer lists and relationships. - Draft press releases, op-eds, Q&As, and talking points. - Prepare spokespeople; run simulations and media training. - Manage crisis protocols; coordinate approvals and statements. - Track coverage, sentiment, and message pull-through. - Oversee content standards, photo/video consent, and ethics. Education & Experience: - BA/BCom in PR/Communication/Journalism. - 3–5 years PR in NGO, agency, or corporate affairs. Skills & Tools: - Media relations, issues management, writing, Meltwater/Cision, CMS. KPIs: - Share of voice, sentiment, tier-1 hits, message penetration, response time. Compensation (Kenya): KES 90,000–160,000 + project bonuses. Figures are client estimates and vary with experience and interviews. Benefits: - Medical, pension, and travel per diems.
