Employee & Industrial Relations Officer
HR & Recruitment
K sh 140,000 – 260,000 gross / month
Openings: 1 Location: Nairobi – Embakasi (Airport North Rd) Overview: Our client needs an ER/IR Officer who can keep the peace when things get tense, part detective, part diplomat, and part human law book. This isn’t a desk-only role; it’s for someone who can walk the factory floor in Embakasi, talk to supervisors, listen to grievances, and still make it back in time to file airtight reports. You’ll be the calm in the chaos, making sure every case follows due process and every employee feels heard (even when the answer is “no”). The ideal fit thrives where people and policy meet. You’ll guide managers through disciplinary steps, handle union conversations with tact, and make sure the paperwork can hold up to any audit or labor inspection. One minute you’ll be leading a hearing, the next you’ll be coaching a shift lead on documentation or prepping for a negotiation. If you enjoy structure, fairness, and keeping things from turning into full-blown disputes, this is your kind of challenge. It’s real-world HR high stakes, fast-moving, and incredibly rewarding when everyone leaves the room with mutual respect still intact. Key Responsibilities: - Receive and investigate cases; gather statements and evidence. - Run hearings; draft outcomes; track appeals and timelines. - Liaise with union officials; prepare for negotiations and JNCs. - Train supervisors on documentation and fairness. - Monitor ER trends; recommend policy improvements. - Represent the company with labor officers where needed. Education & Experience: - Degree/Diploma in HR/Industrial Relations; CHRP-K is an advantage. - 3–5 years ER/IR with union exposure. Skills & Tools: - Case management, labor law depth, documentation, and conflict resolution. KPIs: - Case closure time, overturned decisions, absenteeism trend, and dispute frequency. Compensation (Kenya): KES 140,000–260,000 + case-closure bonus. Client estimates vary with experience and interview outcomes. Benefits: - Medical, PPE, and transport stipend for late shifts. Growth Path (hierarchy/expected promotions): - Senior ER Officer → ER Manager → Head of ER/Compliance. Ideal hierarchy and expected promotion cycle.
