English & Literacy Teacher (Lower Secondary) [3 positions]

Education

K sh 65,000 – 110,000 gross / month

Openings: 3 positions Location: Western Overview: As one of three English Teachers, you’ll guide learners through structured reading routines that build fluency, writing workshops that shape craft, and speaking exercises that transform timid voices into confident presenters. Growth here is measured not just in exam scores, but in tangible reading levels and clear writing rubrics. You’ll design lessons that balance structure with creativity: modeling writing processes, scaffolding independent work, and facilitating debates, drama performances, and speech days that engage both the mind and the heart. Learner portfolios will be your lens for tracking progress, ensuring interventions are timely and meaningful. Parents become partners in learning, too. You’ll share strategies for reading at home, guide language enrichment, and communicate learner milestones with clarity and encouragement. The classroom is a community where language skills are practiced, celebrated, and internalized. Success is measured in multiple dimensions: fluency gains (WCPM), improvements across writing rubrics, and active participation in speaking events. This isn’t just teaching English, it’s crafting articulate thinkers and expressive communicators who carry skills far beyond the classroom walls. Key Responsibilities: - Implement reading fluency routines and vocabulary instruction. - Teach writing process (model, shared, guided, independent). - Run debates, speech days, and drama pieces. - Track reading levels; maintain learner portfolios and goals. - Engage parents with reading-at-home guidance. Education & Experience: - B.Ed (English/Literature) or BA + PGDE; 2–5 years preferred. Skills & Tools: - Literacy frameworks, rubrics, classroom libraries, empathy. KPIs: - Fluency gains (WCPM), writing rubric improvements, participation in speaking events. Compensation (Kenya): KES 65,000–110,000 + reading growth incentive. Client estimates vary with experience, results, and interview outcomes. Benefits: - Medical, CPD, library resources. Growth Path: - Literacy Lead → HOD Languages → Academics Coordinator. Ideal promotion cycle.
